Blue Springs Pet Resort Policies and Fees

Blue Springs Animal Hospital & Pet Resort is setting the standard for quality pet care and this includes doing everything we can to keep the pets in our facility safe and healthy. For the protection of all the pets entrusted to our care, we must set some policies and standards that apply to every guest.

PREVENTATIVE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

Blue Springs Pet Resort has strict health requirements because we are committed to keeping your pet safe and healthy. Our standards are high, but we hope you will see that as an advantage when selecting a facility to provide a safe environment for your pet.

To ensure quality control and adequate protection, vaccinations and parasite testing must be provided by a licensed veterinarian.

If your pet is a patient at our hospital, we will already have your records. If your pet is under the care of another veterinary hospital, please bring a copy of the records/receipt. Pets will not be admitted without proof of vaccinations and parasite testing.

If your pet is not current, we prefer that your pet is updated by appointment in advance, but updates can be given at the time of admission if necessary.

Puppies must be 8 weeks of age and have their first Disptemper/Parvo, Bordetella, Canine Influenza (both strains), and fecal test prior to their first visit to the Pet Resort. It is important for puppies to complete the puppy series for all of our required services to establish adequate protection and continue visiting the resort.

Dogs older than 7 months of age must be spayed or neutered to play with other dogs in Playtime.

PARASITE CONTROL

Monthly heartworm and flea preventatives are essential to keep our resort facility parasite free. Pets with heartworms, intestinal parasites, or external parasites like fleas and ticks could cause an infestation of our facility and infection of other guests.

If your pet has not been treated in the last 30 days with an approved product, we can apply a product for you at admission. Other products do not provide adequate protection and are not acceptable substitutes.

POLICY REGARDING PETS WHO GET SICK WHILE BOARDING AT THE PET RESORT

In spite of stringent health requirements and our efforts to keep pets healthy while in our care, pets do occasionally get sick while staying with us. Often these are illnesses that are unrelated to boarding and could have just as easily occurred at home. If this happens, we can assure you that your pet could not be in a better place!

Upon admission for boarding with us, you will sign a treatment authorization statement so we will know how you want us to respond if your pet should get sick while you are away from home. Our counselors are trained to observe closely for things like vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, sneezing, and other signs that would indicate a pet may not be feeling well. And, just down the hall from the Pet Resort is a state of the art veterinary hospital with caring and compassionate doctors and staff ready and willing to provide top notch veterinary care for your pet!

If your pet would happen to develop a contagious, infectious problem (like Kennel Cough) during his/her boarding stay with us, we will examine your pet and make recommendations for treatment, if needed, at no charge. If diagnostic tests or medications are needed they will be at the owner’s expense. We do our very best, including cleaning/sanitation and requiring every guest to be vaccinated, but still these diseases will occasionally spread. It is similar to the way children get colds at school and people get the flu despite being vaccinated. Luckily, these diseases are more a nuisance than a real health threat to pets.

If you notice problems like coughing, sneezing, or diarrhea within 2 weeks after boarding, please call for an appointment. If you choose to take your pet to another veterinary hospital, we can not be responsible for their fees.
