Dr. Stuart Ryder

Veterinarian, Medical Director

Dr Ryder offers veterinary care including cancer chemotherapy for pets in Blue Springs and surrounding Kansas City areas.

As the Medial Director at Blue Springs Animal Hospital & Pet Resort, Dr. Ryder provides leadership for the doctor team and mentors new associate doctors.

Dr. Ryder received his Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology  from  Oklahoma State University. He moved to the Kansas City area and joined the team at Blue Springs Animal Hospital in June of 2005 after he graduated with his Doctorate Degree in Veterinary Medicine from the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He grew up in Arkansas, and his wife Amanda grew up in Oklahoma, so Blue Springs is much closer to family!

Dr. Ryder’s interests include internal medicine and veterinary ultrasound. He has completed advanced training courses in veterinary ultrasound and enjoys using ultrasound to diagnose internal abdominal conditions. Dr. Ryder is also interested in veterinary dentistry and cancer chemotherapy . Dr. Ryder is happy to accept second opinions or local referrals for veterinary ultrasound, ultrasound-guided aspirates or biopsies of abdominal organs, and for cancer chemotherapy.

Dr. Ryder met his wife when they were attending Oklahoma State University for undergrad. She is a chemist and works with developing new pharmaceuticals. They have 3 four-legged children (2 cats and 1 dog), and 2 two-legged children, Michael and Savannah. Keeping track of everybody can be hard at times, so Dr. Ryder has recently acquired a taste for Starbucks!

When he is not at work, Dr. Ryder enjoys reading, camping, and running.

It is a great blessing to come to work and really enjoy it.  Ever since I was in grade school, I wanted to be a veterinarian.  The job is everything I expected it to be and more.  My greatest joy in practice is the relationships that I get to build with my patients and clients.  I look forward to seeing you soon! - Dr. Stuart Ryder, Veterinarian

Dr. Ryder is incredibly compassionate and understanding. I completely trust him with taking care of our beloved pets, who are as much family as pet. He is knowledgeable and goes the extra mile. I would highly recommend him as well as the entire staff of Blue Springs Animal Hospital.

If you’re searching for chemo treatment options for your pup, Blue Springs Animal Hospital is a great option! We went to Dr. Ryder for several months for my dog’s chemo treatment for lymphoma. Dr. Ryder was very informative, professional, and he truly cares about the animals. He provided lots of information about the medications and potential outcomes or side effects which was great. The treatment did extend my dog’s life for about 9 months after diagnosis, so very thankful for that extra time we got with him. Every dog responds differently to chemo treatment and Dr. Ryder explained that very well along with many other details so we were well informed throughout the entire process. When it did come time to say goodbye, we were treated so well by the staff. The doctor who performed the euthanization was so gentle, professional, and comforting as you can be in that situation. It was such a tough experience to say goodbye but the doctor and techs made it very peaceful and as accommodating as possible. We are very thankful for the great team there!

We've been going here since we got our first dog when she was 8 weeks old. She's now 13 and we'll only go here. We made the mistake of trying a local vet because they were closer, but we quickly learned that was a bad idea and switched back to BSAH. We usually switch between Dr. Peyton and Dr. Ryder and they're both amazing! The staff is amazing and are always so friendly and patient when our fur babies don't always want to cooperate and decide to be stubborn. We have 3 dogs now and I can honestly say that there's nowhere else I would rather take my pets to and we will continue to use them in the future and as long as we have pets. The level of care they give your pets is superior to anywhere else I've ever taken my previous pets. Not only do they get to know your pets, they take the time to get to know you as well and never hesitate to answer any questions or address any concerns you might have and they never rush you! Even if it's a little bit of a drive for you..take it! You won't regret it!

I had a senior cat with a lot of health problems. We had Dr. Ryder on speed dial!! He is a very attentive doctor and spends enough time as you need talking. I never feel rushed. I have 2 new shelter adopted kitties. I would never go anywhere else.

We switched to BSAH in 2020 and were so impressed. We now have a new puppy and wouldn't even think of taking him anywhere else. All the staff are wonderful and Dr. Ryder is amazing!!

Best office in KC and it's not even close. Great pricing for the best care available. Had an amazing experience with every vet we've seen there, especially Dr. Ryder.

We have been going to BSAH for almost 6 years. We absolutely love it there! Everyone is so sweet an helpful. They treat our pets like family. Our pups love to vacation at the Pet Resort and hardly miss us at all. They are well loved by all the staff and it makes the vet experience easy. A big shout out to Dr Stuart Ryder our wonderful vet. He is awesome with both our pups and our cat! They love him! Also a shout out to Dr Rodier. He did knee surgery on my puggle. He is also wonderful.

Our Corgi, Fitz, loves Doctor Ryder! We initially went here when we first got him because they were one of the only vets that offered laser neutering and stayed because of Dr. Ryder.

We have been taking our 2 cats and dog to Blue Springs Animal Hospital since 2011 and have always received excellent care. Dr. Ryder always takes time to explain in detail what the procedures entail and what is needed to keep our furry family members healthy and comfortable. All the staff are clearly there because they have great compassion for animals and serve for their well-being. I wish my Drs. to be as dedicated as those at Blue Springs Animal Hospital and give me the reassuring follow-up calls! When dealing with compromised health issues in pets especially, trust is important and we trust them to give us the best options. We recently had to make the gruelling decision to have our dear 16 year old cat euthanized after almost 3 years of increased vet visits, meds and lots of TLC. Dr. Ryder was so helpful to us in making the decision. No matter how many times that decision must be made for our four-foot furry family members, it is never an easy one. Dr. Ryder is just the best at making the actual process peaceful, calm and unhurried for us as much as for our dear cat. I am very grateful for the wonderful care and compassion from Dr. Ryder and the other Drs and staff at Blue Springs Animal Hospital and Pet Resort.

Dr. Ryder was truly compassionate. He listened to all of our concerns, guided us to our options, and reassured us that the issue we came in for was not a life threatening issue. It is very clear he is passionate about about his role in caring for our fur babies.

Appreciated Dr Ryder getting us in for a second opinion. He and Chaz took very good care of our dog and us. Looking forward to working with them to take care of Murphy. Thank you!

We live a 90 minute drive (each way) from BSAH and discovered your clinic when we had an emergency. We have come back ever since. Dr. Ryder is perhaps one of the best clinicians and veterinarians I have ever met. All our old cats are still alive and well under his care. We don t know any of the techs personally because we get different ones but have had good experiences with all of them--as well as the few other vets we have seen as well. We very much appreciate Dr. Ryder and BSAH.

We have been going to Blue Springs Animal Hospital since 1988 and would never consider going anywhere else... Dr. Rodier and Dr. Ryder are our two main vets and they are great, with many years experience between them... Have also seen several of the other vets and they are just as great...
