Dr. Emily James offers veterinary care to pets in Blue Springs and surrounding Kansas City areas.
Dr. James grew up in Lees Summit, Missouri. She has wanted to be a veterinarian her entire life and has always had a love for animals. Growing up, she had a family dog with many medical conditions that further drove her interests within the veterinary field.
Dr. Emily graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Animal Sciences from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2016. Before veterinary school, she began working at Blue Springs Animal Hospital as a Doctor’s assistant, and was able to work during school breaks to further her veterinary experience.
Dr. Emily was accepted to veterinary school and graduated with her Doctorate Degree in Veterinary Medicine from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Caribbean island of Grenada. Her 4th year clinical rotations were completed at Iowa State University School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Emily’s veterinary interests include internal medicine, Preventative Medicine and Wellness Care, endocrinology, and canine behavior. Her interests outside of veterinary medicine include the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, attending concerts, going to the lake, and baking. She also enjoys spending time with her family, her Lab-hound mix, Bogey, and her cat, Charlie.

Dr. Emily is so friendly and very informative. I think she knows everything there is to know about dogs, well, at least my little Zuchon! I really enjoy talking to her. She is the best!
