Dr. Rebecca Zelada grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska. At 19 years old, she got her first pet, a miniature Australian Shepherd she named Mickey. Mickey was a typical, high-energy puppy that liked to get into anything and everything. Spending time at the vet office with Mickey and learning about how to keep him healthy and happy inspired her to become a veterinarian.
Dr. Zelada was part of the cooperative program between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Iowa State and did her first 2 years of veterinary school in Nebraska and the last 2 years at Iowa State.
Dr. Zelada graduated from Iowa State in May of 2017 and moved to Monterey, California for a couple of years where she practiced in a small animal clinic. California was a beautiful place to live but the Midwest life called her back towards home.
Along with her dog Mickey, Dr. Zelada shares her home with her cat Bruce. She enjoys gardening, hiking, and reading. On her days off you can usually find her exploring the trails around her home or lounging around with her pets.
