Born and raised in central Illinois, Dr. Elise (Lesko) Kelly attended Eastern Illinois University and received her undergraduate degree in zoology in 1999. She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2006. While there, she served as her student government class representative and vice president for 2 years.
Dr. Kelly loves to travel and lived in Chicago, southwestern Florida, St. Kitt’s and Minneapolis before deciding to settle down in the Kansas City area and join the team at Blue Springs Animal Hospital and Pet Resort.
Dr. Kelly gained experience working with exotic animals and wildlife shortly after finishing her undergraduate degree while employed as an intern at The Conservancy of Southwest Florida in Naples. Since then, she has always loved working with wildlife. Her other special interests include soft tissue surgery and dermatology.
Dr. Kelly is married and resides in Independence with her husband, mixed breed dog Guinness, four goats and six fish.
In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, dancing, traveling, and riding on the back of her husband's Harley Davidson.
